60TH BIRTHDAY PARTY
The Brief
A 3 day party in Umbria to celebrate the 60th birthday of a world famous British economist. The festivities should include a dinner dance, a porchetta picnic, and a concert with a final dinner in a restaurant specialising in Umbrian cuisine.
The Aim
To make sure the guests, who were a mixture of the host’s business clients, friends and family, had an unforgettable Italian weekend. Fabulous food and wine, beautiful decoration and lighting, great music, seamless transportation from venue to venue – and an introduction for many of the guests to the Italian region loved by their host. Everything should be perfect, relaxed and above all great fun.
EVERYTHING SHOULD BE PERFECT, RELAXED AND ABOVE ALL, GREAT FUN.
The Result
Sbandieratori (Italian flag wavers wearing exceptional tights) greeted guests as they arrived for drinks in the village square. The many-course dinner in the castle was then followed by Rock & Roll in the village square. The next day a whole pig was roasted for the picnic on a lawn in the countryside, which was followed by a private piano concert in the Smallest Theatre in the World. The final dinner in the restaurant was a very festive occasion – despite the heavy downpour just when the guests were arriving. A hugely successful event, which succeeded all expectations and is still being talked about several years later as the best party anyone can remember.
